The threads are rolled after heat-treating to provide optimum fatigue strength.In addition to the upgraded strength, replacing the OEM main bolts with studs also allows you to obtain a more precise torque reading. A conventional bolt gets twisted as it is tightened, so it's reacting to two different forces at the same time. With a stud the force gets applied to the vertical axis, resulting in a more even clamping force.These are a must-have for high-performance applications and are reusable, unlike the OEM Torque-To-Yield (TTY) bolts which must be replaced after each use.
